Natural Tips to Keep Your Family Healthy

"Tip the season for sniffles, upset tummies, and the endless search for missing gloves. As a mom, you’re the first line of defense for your family’s health—and let’s be honest, we could all use a little backup.

So I've compiled the ways I support my family during these colder months. I hope you find them helpful! They've sure been a blessing to my family.

Start Strong: Build Up Your Body’s Defense

Let’s talk about Inner Defense. This little capsule is like an army for your immune system. Packed with essential oils like oregano, thyme, and Thieves, it helps your body fight off those pesky germs that pop up everywhere. (Did you know germs cannot adapt to authentic essential oils? It's true! That's one reason quality and brand matter when using oils.)

The beauty of Inner Defense is its versatility:
  • Preventative Power: Take it daily during the winter months to fortify your immune system.
  • Rescue Remedy: If you feel a tickle in your throat or your body starting to feel run-down, take Inner Defense as a natural antibiotic alternative. Suck on a Thieves Lozenge for extra relief and defense. Love these lozenges. If you get a cough. I recommend the Thieves cough drops.
Pro tip: Pair it with a probiotic to keep your gut happy while it works its magic. I like Life 9 and Mighty Pro. (Life 9 can be sprinkled on a child's food if the child is too young to take a capsule or you don't have the yummy Mighty Pro)

Thieves: Your Germ-Fighting Hero

Thieves is one of my all-time favorite blends. This oil doesn’t just smell like Christmas in a bottle; it’s also a germ-fighting powerhouse.
  • Diffuse Daily: Fill your home with the warm, spicy aroma of Thieves to help purify the air.
  • Roll It On: Dilute it with a carrier oil and apply to little feet (and your own!) for an extra layer of protection.
  • Clean with It: Use Thieves cleaner for surfaces to keep the germs at bay without harsh chemicals. Cleaning with harsh chemicals compromises the immune system. Clean with Thieves household cleaner to stregthen your immune system and KILL the germs at the same time!
Moms, let’s face it: kids touch everything. Thieves is a must-have in my winter wellness toolkit.

Tummy Troubles Be Gone: Digestive Support for the Holidays

Holiday feasts are a joy, but they can also do a number on our digestive systems. Keep your family’s tummies happy with these go-to products:

  1. DiGize: This blend is a lifesaver for bloating, discomfort, or that “I ate too much pie” feeling. Rub it directly on your stomach (diluted with a carrier oil) or add a drop to a glass of water.
  2. ComfortTone: Helps clean up the junk in your intestines without causing cramps or pain. Think beautiful poop. :P
  3. Essentialzyme: Holiday meals are often heavy, and Essentialzyme helps your body break down all the rich foods you love.
Make sure to keep these handy—because nothing puts a damper on a family gathering like tummy troubles.

Hydration: Your Secret Weapon

If there’s one thing we often overlook during the winter, it’s staying hydrated. Cold weather tricks us into thinking we don’t need as much water, but trust me, your body needs it more than ever.

  • Infuse Your Water: Add a drop of citrus oils like lemon or grapefruit to your water for a refreshing boost.
  • Warm Up with Tea: Herbal teas are hydrating and comforting. Peppermint tea is great for digestion, while chamomile can help you unwind.
  • Eat Your Water: Foods like soups, broths, and juicy fruits (yes, even in winter) can help keep your hydration levels up.

Stay Active: Move That Body

I know it’s tempting to stay snuggled under a blanket all winter, but staying active is key to keeping your immune system strong.
  • Take a brisk walk around the neighborhood.
  • Do a family stretching session in the living room.
  • Have a dance party with the kids to your favorite playlist.
Movement doesn’t have to be complicated—it just has to happen!

Don’t Skimp on Sleep

Raise your hand if you’ve ever stayed up way too late wrapping gifts or binge-watching your favorite holiday movies. (Guilty!) But here’s the thing: sleep is non-negotiable when it comes to wellness.

  • Create a bedtime routine for yourself, just like you do for the kids.
  • Diffuse calming oils like lavender or cedarwood to set the mood.
  • Try to aim for 7-8 hours of sleep, even if it means leaving a few things unchecked on your to-do list.

Feed Your Family Well

Winter is the season of comfort food, and while there’s nothing wrong with indulging, balance is key.
  • Load Up on Veggies: Add extra greens to soups, stews, and casseroles.
  • Boost with Bone Broth: It’s rich in nutrients and supports a healthy gut.
  • Snack Smart: Keep cut-up fruits, nuts, and seeds on hand for easy, nutrient-dense snacks.

Don’t Forget About Mom

Finally, let’s not forget to take care of ourselves. We’re so busy caring for everyone else, but your wellness matters too.
  • Take time to enjoy a warm bath with Epsom salts and a few drops of Stress Away or Peace & Calming.
  • Keep a roller of your favorite oil blend (mine’s frankincense and orange) handy for quick pick-me-ups during the day.
  • Prioritize self-care, even if it’s just 10 minutes to breathe, stretch, or sip your favorite tea.

Winter Wellness for the Win

With a little planning and the right tools, you can navigate winter like a pro. Inner Defense, Thieves, DiGize, ComfortTone, and Essentialzyme are incredible products to have in your arsenal, but remember, wellness is about the whole picture. Stay hydrated, eat well, sleep deeply, and move your body.
From one mom to another: you’ve got this. Here’s to a happy, healthy winter for you and your family!
